Dream Killers
Dream killers are something everyone who thinks outside of the proverbial box will have to deal with. There is different types of dream killers the first to come to our minds is usually people. However people are not the only kind, and probably not the most devastating. The Bible says in 3rd John v. 2… Beloved I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. This reveals something to us very enlightening. A man is a triune being. Spirit, Soul, and Body. Your spirit is your inner man. Your soul is made up of your mind, your will, and your emotions. Your body is your flesh. You are triune, in the image of God. The Bible says your prosperity, and your health is always even or level with your soul! Human beings are creatures of habit. This can be good or this can be bad. I’ll explain… Once there was a bear. This particular bear was raised in a circus in a cage. His whole life was spent inside this cage. The bear would walk exactly 14 paces to the end of the cage and turn and walk 14 paces back again. The bear did this all day, everyday seven days a week. When the bear got old a group that devotes it’s time to helping animals had compassion on the bear, and bought him from the circus. Their one thought was to set the bear free. So they took him to the proper reserve and opened the cage. However when the cage opened the bear wouldn’t budge. Oh they yelled and they hollered, but the bear wouldn’t move! They then proceeded to prod him with a mild shock on his haunches they hated to do it but they had to get him out of that cage! Finally reluctantly the bear walked out of the cage into freedom! The old bear sniffed the ground, then he sniffed the air. Everyone was getting excited anticipating his reaction the moment he realized he was free. The old bear began to walk! He walked 14 paces turned around and walked 14 back and proceeded to do this over and over! The bear had been in that cage so long that the cage was now in his mind. The Bible declares… That as a man thinks in his heart (mind) so is he. The greatest Dream killer you face is in your own mind! As you think you will eventually become. People who are very creative individuals sometimes seem to have the wildest ideas. Unfortunately when they tell them to other people they sometimes get a flood of reasons why their idea’s are ridiculous and won’t work. However we must continue to think outside the box or that box will become a cage! If it ever becomes a cage in our minds, then we’re in prison no matter where we go. There were two eagles placed in a cage at the zoo. One of those eagles set proud and pretty majestically high up on his perch. The other eagle however was hanging on the wire by his talons beating his head against the cage. It was a gruesome sight. A veteran Zookeeper and a young attendant stood watching this. The veteran noticed that the young zoo attendant was puzzled at the actions of the two eagles. He turned and looked at the young attendant and said… You can tell the ones who were raised in captivity from the ones who were born free! Note: Wild ideas are considered wild only because they are free and not in a cage. Wild ideas grow old and die in the cage called average. Longing to roam the wide-open spaces they were born to travel. The most devastating thing to your dreams is to be trapped inside the proverbial box! If you owned a hamburger joint and it set side by side 15 other hamburger places. What do you suppose would make people want to stop at your place? It would be the …WOW! It would be the fact that it doesn’t fit the average mold it’s…WOW! It’s out of the box! I will leave you with this thought… A Farmer was out in his field working one day, and he got what we used to call cuckle burrs stuck all over his overalls. You know what cuckle burrs are? They look like porcupine eggs! The farmer was complaining about the cuckle burrs as he was pulling them off his overalls. Suddenly he had a thought, outside the box! It wasn’t long before the farmer marketed his out of the box idea. Most likely everyone reading this has took advantage of his convenient idea. He called it…Velcro! Keep on thinking out of the box.
